Well, it's good to be back home again. Here's a short recap of the past few days:
On Tuesday, we visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle. Very impressive! Later on that evening, we saw our friend Karen. We stayed up until 4 am talking and laughing.
On Wednesday, we drove around Fredericksburg a bit, and had dinner with Blair's cousin Sue and her family.
Yesterday, we hit the road for home. We drove straight through and didn't hit much traffic the whole way down. We took I-95 South to I-295 South in Jacksonville over to I-10 West and then down Rt. 301 South for a while, then hopped over to I-75 South for the last leg of the trip. Including stops, the trip took about 14 hours...not too bad for Northern Virginia to Tampa.
See you all next time!

Northern Virginia
While we were in Richmond on Saturday, our friend Gary was having his birthday party, so we stopped by for a few hours. We then headed up to Fredericksburg, where our friend Shawn lives. We're staying with him for several days before returning home.
Yesterday, we ate lunch at Hard Times Cafe in Woodbridge (I really missed their chili-mac), and then hung out with our friend Rob the rest of the day.
Today, we had lunch at Baja Fresh in Manassas, and our friend Tara stopped by for a few minutes on her way home. We might get together with her and her boyfriend later on today.
That's all for now...thanks to Panera for the free wi-fi!

Richmond
Well, we're here in Richmond, VA now. We got in last night from the Outer Banks and grabbed some Waffle House before going to bed. Our friend, Gary, got us a free room for tonight here at his friend's motel, so that saved us a bit of $$$. This motel doesn't have wi-fi, but we're able to grab a signal from the big hotel next door. ;-)
Well, that's all for now...Gary is having his birthday party tomorrow...beer and bbq time!
Talk at y'all tomorrow...

Outer Banks Brewing Station
We had dinner at the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills while thunderstorms raged outside. Blair had the shrimp and grits with redeye gravy and I had the pan-seared scallops with smoked ham and mushroom risotto. Both dishes were ridiculously good. We washed it all down with some of their "Abracadabra" Brown Ale. Two thumbs up!!!

The Outer Banks
Well, folks, we made it to the Outer Banks. We checked into the Nags Head Inn and got ourselves an oceanfront room. Kind of quiet here, being midweek and all. The manager was at the front desk and we nudged her into knocking a bit off the room rate. Thanks for the hookup, Ms. Hogan!
Tomorrow we'll visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and we'll see if we can find that house from Nights in Rodanthe. The gentleman from the Park Service said that it's been moved back to the beach about a mile south of its original location. Think we'll take a walk on the Rodanthe Pier, too.
Okay...enough chatter...time to grab a shower and get some dinner. Looks like either seafood or seafood for dinner tonight, or maybe we'll just have some seafood. ;-)

South of the Border
Well, after a long day driving up from Tampa Bay, we arrived here at the world famous South of the Border. Look in the dictionary under "tourist trap", and you'll surely find a picture of this place. Yeah, it's cheesy, but it's a good stopping point on our journey north, and the rooms are cheap and clean. They have free wi-fi, too. Looking forward to a good night's sleep. Can't wait to get to the Outer Banks tomorrow. Goodnight, all!

Vacation Time!
Well, folks, it's almost time to go. New tires installed, oil change done, tank filled, laundry done, stuff packed. Hitting the road north tomorrow morning, headed for the Outer Banks and ultimately Virginia. We're just going to have fun and see where the highway leads us.
